Drama at Lees Brook Academy develops confidence in a physical and creative manner that allows students to work individually and in small groups. Drama also supports the English curriculum in delivery of reading, writing and speaking skills. We use drama as a tool to explore social and moral issues allowing for each child to grow in confidence developing coping mechanisms for life in and out of school.
We aspire to provide a space where students can explore challenging themes while building on skills such as compassion, kindness, empathy, problem solving, encouragement of self and those around them, resilience, courage, commitment and self-confidence. We hope our students will then strive to be the best that they can be while having compassion and developing emotional intelligence through exploring texts, characters and public speaking. We hope that some of these skills and techniques can then be used to showcase work to others through class performances and school shows with extra-curricular opportunities enhancing our student’s school life.
