Appeals
Appeals need to be submitted in writing directly to the academy. An appeal can be in the form of an email, letter or completed ‘Appeal Form’. Details in the appeal must include;
- child’s name
- date of birth
- gender
- full address
- parent/carers name, relationship to child, contact number and email address.
A paper copy of the Appeal Form can be posted to you on request, please email lbaadmissions@leesbrook.co.uk to request a form, providing your address and contact details. Paper forms should be returned to: F.A.O Independent Appeals Panel Clerk, c/o Lees Brook Academy, Morley Road, Chaddesden, Derby, DE24 4QX
Appeals should be submitted within the deadline given on your decision letter from the local authority (for main round admissions) or Lees Brook Academy (for in year admissions), which is 20 school days.
Appeal Hearing
The school must ensure that appeals lodged by the appropriate deadlines are heard within the following timescales:
- for applications made in the normal main round admissions, appeals must be heard within 40 school days of the deadline for lodging appeals;
- for late main round admission applications, appeals should be heard within 40 school days from the deadline for lodging appeals where possible, or within 30 school days of the appeal being lodged.
- for in-year admissions applications, appeals must be heard within 30 school days of the appeal being lodged.
Any appeals submitted after the appropriate deadline must still be heard, in accordance with whatever timescale is set out in the timetable published by the admission authority.
Finally, we will ensure that decision letters are sent within 5 school days of the hearing wherever possible.
