In Business Studies we focus on the elements of Business operations and how they set out to achieve their aims and objectives in order to be successful. We endeavour to provide you with a learning environment that will allow you to creatively expand your knowledge of a range of concepts and practices setting them within the context of real Business scenarios. Finance, Recruitment and Selection, Ownership, Marketing and Enterprise are a few of the topics that will be explored, allowing you to build up a portfolio of knowledge to use in the wider world. Studying Business at Lees Brook provides an excellent platform for further study at College or Sixth Form and even University. Lees Brook Business Studies students have the opportunity to develop their skills in researching, analysing key data, report writing and presenting information effectively.This can lead to specific careers such as Accountancy, Human Resources, Logistics or Facilities Management, or more diverse opportunities such as Project Management and Business Consultancy.

The assessment approach allows learners to receive feedback on their progress throughout the course as learners provide evidence towards set assessment criteria.
Evidence for assessment may be generated through a range of
diverse activities including; assignment and project coursework, case studies, workplace assessment, role play and presentations.
25% of the qualification is externally assessed in an examination (Unit 2 - Finance for Business).
Learners are encouraged to take responsibility for their own
learning and achievement, taking into account of the industry
standards for behaviour and performance.

Business courses provide students with various skills that employers desire including: Communication, Presentation, Team working, Leadership, Research, Report writing and all whilst working to deadlines. Following Lees Brook, Derby College offer Level 3 Business courses as BTEC (coursework focused) or as AS/A Levels (examination assessment focused). There are also many other providers offering Level 3 Business courses. Students can also study a range of Business Management courses at all universities providing an ideal grounding for many careers which might include: Banking and Finance, Marketing and Advertising Human Resource Management, Automotive Dealership Management or even setting up your own business
